    Moishe,

I am looking for a siddur for windows mobile 5. Most sidduring that I have seen for phone are for palm or IPhone only or are not ashkenaz. You posted on Nov 19th about a siddur but when I tried to download on that site I got an error. Any other options?

      Daniel, try this site http://code.google.com/p/asiddur/
you can download siddur for java mobile from there.

        Hello,
I am the webmaster of the site: http://www.consistoiremarseille.com/joomla , created under joomla .
I would like to add a table like that of Luach for Tallinn, Estonia, but for Marseille, France. Can you send me, please, the code to be able to put it on my site?
        I thank you, in advance.
        chavouat tov.

          Yehouda,
You can obtain the package for WordPress from WordPress repository.

You will find php code there. I suspect that you will have to port it to joomla. I am not big professional in joomla coding, but suspect, that would not be difficult. Feel free to ask me any questions on the code, I would help with great pleasure.

And in case you will succeed, you can share your code on kosherdev.

I have the same interest.I believe software has to be made a into a ‘extension’ which can then be imported into a module.Has there been any feedback from this post?

            • Moishe Beshkin | ‍‍Nov 16, 2010 - 10 Kislev 5771 at 11:32 pm

              Shlomo,
I haven’t received any feedback on it. I have no much time to work with Joomla now, so if anybody will take a responsibility, it would be nice.

    Hi there
FYI, Virtuiajerusalem.com has released a new software product (developed by E-Shop Enterprises – http://www.eshopenterprises.com)

the system is called the Kolbo Alert. It is an advanced technology that allows users to receive news alerts (including images, audio, video etc) directly to their desktop.

the Kolbo alert is used by several Jewish news sites who send alerts out on the system. the Publishers include israelnationalnews.com (A7), Haaretz.com, ynetnews.com, Jta.org, forward.com, jewishjournal.com. more publishers are to be added

Readers can choose whom they receive alerts from (what publishers) and what categories of alerts they want

    see as an example http://www.kolboalert.com/haaretz.php
    see another example at http://www.kolboalert.com/jta.php

feel free to contact me with any followup questions

      Hi there
I sent you all some information about a new technology/service that is being introduced these days – the KolboAlert.

The technology is being used by most of he MAJOR Jewish news sites (A7, Ynet, Haaretz, JTA, Jewish Journal, Forward)

I have not heard back from you.

Is this not the stuff you are interested in?

      thanks

        Hello,
I activated the plug-in, but I don’t see any change to the site. I must be doing something wrong. I am using “Modern Style 1.1 by FlexiThemes”. How do I activate your plug-in features? Thank you.

        Sincerely,

          Eyal,
In Administration part go to Appearance -> Widgets and drag-n-drop zmanim widget to any widget part you want. usually people place it on the right side of the site.

If you have any further questions, contact me for details.

I just installed the zmanim widget a few days ago and I seem to be getting slightly inaccurate times. They’re all close, but the zman for shiyah, for example, is usually about two minutes late. This also affects candle lighting times for Shabbos.
I made sure to get accurate Lat and Long values off google maps.
          Any suggestions?

          • Moishe Beshkin | ‍‍Dec 24, 2010 - 17 Teves 5771 at 1:12 am

            Hello,
I also see some zmanim to be little bit different from other sources, like http://www.chabad.org or http://www.myzmanim.com/.
All calculations of zmanim are made on the base of sunrise and sunset time. So, it is just maths.

I consulted with several rabbies and all of them said that nobody should rely on any technically calculated time, but need to take in consideration, that there might be a slight difference. So, not to wait till last minute, but start the duties little bit earlier or later (depends what you are going to do).
try to go to Settings -> Zmanim and take a look on doven time advanced settings.

Do you still support any apps for J2ME phones? A pdf file for your molad program comes up on google but I can’t find a download link anywhere?
Also, do you know of any other jewish apps for J2ME devices, like chumash or mishnayos? I know that those are all available on the old palm OS. Is there any way to port or emulate them on a J2ME platform?
            Thanks!

            • Moishe Beshkin | ‍‍Dec 24, 2010 - 17 Teves 5771 at 1:15 am

Actually, I was not supporting this application – it was just a review for my old mobile phone. I checked this link http://www.phonesoft.cz/java/670/MoladManual.pdf and it opens for me successfully.
At that time I was looking for other programs and haven’t found any more of them.

              Moishe,

What is the purpose of having the “trunk” folder in the Zmanim WP widget? I see where you can make changes to the top level PHP files but where do the trunk files come into play. How are they important? Just curious and thanks.

              Bruce Z.

              • Mihail Beshkin | ‍‍Jan 30, 2011 - 26 Shevat 5771 at 1:10 pm

                Bruce,
I think that trunk folder was just copied from the location, where actual development is done. I use trunk folder for submitting new versions to wordpress.org.
So, nothing special in uploaded version is connected with trunk folder ;)
