Zmanim Widget version 1.5.1
2 Comments | Posted by Moishe Beshkin in Zmanim widget
In this version, I fixed problem with not registering zmanim.js on Jquery.
Also added verification if Google map api key is applied or not. In case not – no map will be displayed and not error from Google will appear.
Playing with javascripts for Zmanim map, I found that there is a conflict of JQ theme and Ajax comments. Hope will fix it later.
Kosherjava, is it a problem, that WordPress uses jQuery version 1.3.4, but in your code it is said to use 1.4?
I found no issues on this case, maybe I haven’t looked well enough?
As usual,

Zmanim Widget version 1.5 (map edition)
3 Comments | Posted by Moishe Beshkin in Zmanim widget
This release has got another new feature – map direction to Kotel in a widget.
This widget is based on a great map, created by KosherJava. I’ve just edited scripts to suit WordPress widget needs and integrated it to Zmanim Widget.
To enable this Widget follow the steps:
1. Go to Appearance -> Widgets
2. Drag-n-Drop Widget to proper section
3. Setup your location. If you already did it for Zmanim Widget, then all your settings will be displayed in Zmanim map config as well.
4. Go to Settings -> Zmanim Widget and input Google maps API key. You can get it from here for your site.
Here you are, you will see a small widget with direction to Kotel from your location. Link to a larger map, located on KosherJava.com site will show you more features.

Two years ago, I got an idea to create a Jewish map of Daugavpils (Dvinsk) Latvia. This is my native city and I wanted to mark all the places, which were important for Jews in pre-second-world-war period.
On that time in Daugavpils, there were 43 synagogues and Jewish population was about 30 thousand people.
After some time, I decided to make such map for whole Latvia. I found a support from rabbi Menachem Barkagan and organization Shamir Latvia.
I just started learning php and javascript 3 years ago. So, looking from now, I would do it much better and easier. But still the project is alive and working. So, do not want to change anything there as soon as it is working properly.
Here is the whole map of Latvia with marked cities where are/were Jewish places. Map is interactive and clickable.
Example of City view – Riga.
Check checkboxes to see the markers on the map.
In future I plan to move to JQuery library and use more of ajax technology.
