Searching for Jewish-related software i had found a wonderful and really funny Role-playing game called The Shivah 2.
According to the publisher’s description:
Russell Stone works as a Jewish Rabbi at a poor synagogue in New York City. He is a devout man with a problem. Membership is way down and he lacks the funds to keep his synagogue open. Things are looking very bleak, and he has grown progressively more cynical and bitter with the passage of time.Just as he is on the verge of packing it all in, he receives some interesting news. A former member of his congregation has died and left the Rabbi a significant amount of money. A blessing Or the start of something far more sinister. Can Rabbi Stone just accept the money and move on. His conscience says no. Step into his shoes as he travels all over Manhattan in his attempt to uncover the truth. Features Rabbinical conversation methods- a never-seen-before method of fighting- a professional score- a full voicetrack – and three different endings. Only the first few scenes are available.
So, this is how it looks like. Nothing special for 2010. But I got interested not in the UI of the game and the quality of charachters’ drawing. I was really curious in the fact of existence of such game.
I run this game on my Linux box via wine. And it works perfectly. I had no chance to play a lot of time, but What i saw I laughed out loud really.
Inspector’s surname is – Durkin. In Russian it means Foolish.
Rabbi says BUBKIES, which is in Russian slang Money.
So, I really had a lot of fun with this game.
